Westsyde, Sa-Hali, NorKam and Valleyview win Fulton Cup basketball titles

KAMLOOPS — Four different schools repeated as champions during the 2025 edition of the Fulton Cup in Kamloops, as the three day tournament wrapped up on Friday (Dec. 19).

The annual city high school basketball championships feature matchups between Kamloops and area schools that would otherwise not be possible as teams compete in different divisions based on the size of the student body.

The Westsyde Whundas beat the NorKam Saints 64-54 to win the senior boys title. The South Kamloops Titans edged the Sa-Hali Sabres 67-60 to win bronze.

The Whundas are ranked eighth in the latest AA Division rankings dated Dec. 17.

In the senior girls division, Sa-Hali blew past the Valleyview Vikings 55-28 to win the tournament. South Kamloops knocked off NorKam 46-41 to finish in third place.

The Sabres are ranked fifth in B.C. in the latest AAA rankings, with Valleyview in eighth place and South Kamloops earning an honourable mention. The Westsyde girls team, which finished fifth at the Fulton Cup, earned an honourable mention in the latest AA rankings.

Over in the junior boys division, NorKam beat the Valleyview Vikings Red 60-58 to finish first, while Westsyde beat Sa-Hali 63-48 to finish third.

The Valleyview Vikings beat Sa-Hali 44-40 to win the junior girls division, while South Kamloops beat Westsyde 31-24 in the third-place game.

This year’s tournament also featured teams from St. Ann’s Academy, Brocklehurst Secondary and Barriere Secondary.
