KAMLOOPS — Police say a concentrated enforcement push last week took drugs and guns off the streets of Kamloops.

In a news release issued Friday (Dec. 19), the Combined Forces Special Enforcement United (CFSEU-BC) says its Uniformed Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) was in Kamloops from December 9 to 12.

UGET teamed up with the Kamloops detachment on a targeted operation, deploying officers throughout the community, “with particular attention to the North Shore and other areas identified through ongoing intelligence, enforcement priorities and community safety concerns.”

The resulting seizures included 11 guns and 1.75 kilograms of illicit substances such as cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine. Officers also seized various weapons and cash alleged to be associated with the drug trade.

“This operation highlights the strength of our partnership with the Kamloops RCMP and our shared commitment to community safety,” said CFSEU-BC spokesperson Sgt. Sarbjit Sangha in the release. “By removing illegal firearms and toxic drugs from our streets, we reduce the risk of violence and disrupt criminal networks that prey on vulnerable individuals. CFSEU-BC will continue working closely with police agencies across the province to target those engaged in gang and drug-related activity.”

“Through coordinated efforts and intelligence sharing between the Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and CFSEU’s UGET officers we continue to leverage every opportunity to disrupt those intent on causing harm to our communities, through violence and illicit drugs,” added Supt. Jeff Pelley of Kamloops RCMP.
