KAMLOOPS – The Delta Hotel is hosting the first-ever Festival of Trees in the City of Kamloops. It’s an event that takes place throughout British Columbia with seven cities participating to raise money for the BC Children’s Hospital.

The trees are sponsored by organizations throughout the region, with each giving the tree its own unique decorations for the competition.

“We didn’t have a goal this year. We weren’t sure how it was going to take off in the city but… last week we had $35,000 raised for B.C. Children’s Hospital. We’re super excited and so grateful for all of the people who have stepped forward to donate,” said Nikki Goodwin, director of sales at the Delta Hotel in Kamloops.

Goodwin says it’s heartwarming to see people enjoy the decorated trees and the hotel is already looking forward to next year.

“For the first year, we have 16 trees in the hotel right now, but next year we’re going to expand it. We have a number of companies that have come forward and already put their names down for next year. We’re definitely hoping to grow it and expand it throughout the hotel and even outside of the hotel next year,” said Goodwin.

The trees can be seen and voted on until January 5 at the lobby of the Delta Hotel.
