Blazers’ Hurlbert selected to WHL Prospects Game

KAMLOOPS — The Western Hockey League’s leading scorer will get another chance to showcase his skills in front of NHL scouts this winter.

Blazers forward J.P. Hurlbert has been added to the Team West roster for the 2026 WHL Prospects Game, set for February 18 at the Langley Events Centre. It’ll feature the top NHL Draft-eligible prospects from the WHL’s Western Conference going up against their Eastern Conference counterparts.

The Allen, Texas rookie leads the league with 54 points (22 goals and 32 assists) in 31 games for Kamloops so far this season.

Hurlbert is considered an ‘A’ prospect for the upcoming Entry Draft by NHL Central Scouting, indicating a potential first-round pick.

He’s the WHL’s reigning Rookie of the Month and was also named Player of the Month for September/October. Hurlbert is also a two-time winner of the WHL Player of the Week award and a two-time winner of the WHL Rookie of the Week award.
