Downtown Kamloops YMCA temporarily closed due to ‘urgent plumbing repair’

KAMLOOPS — The downtown branch of the Kamloops YMCA will be closed through to the end of day Tuesday (Dec. 16) due to an urgent plumbing repair.

In a notice sent to members, Kamloops YMCA Centre Manager Kassie Fowlie said the closure is necessary as all water in the Battle Street facility needs to be shut off so repairs can take place.

“During this closure, all programs and services — including swim lessons — are cancelled,” Fowlie said.

At this time, the downtown Kamloops YMCA is expected to reopen Wednesday (Dec. 17), though Fowlie notes the reopening timeline may change as repairs progress. Up-to-date information will be posted on the YMCA’s website and on social media.
