KAMLOOPS — Strong winds are expected to impact most of Kamloops and area later Monday (Dec. 8) and into the night.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Fraser Canyon, Nicola and South Thompson regions, as well as the Coquihalla Highway from Kamloops to Hope and Highway 3 from Princeton to Hope, calling for strong, southwesterly winds gusting up to 80 km/h.

Additionally, a wind warning is in effect for the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna Monday night. The weather agency is forecasting winds of up to 90 km/h, particularly in sections susceptible to strong cross winds.

The weather advisories are due to a strong Pacific frontal system that’s expected to move through B.C.’s interior Monday night.
