KAMLOOPS — Harrison Brunicke has been named to Canada’s World Juniors training camp roster.

The 19-year-old is one of 27 players set to participate in training camp, which will get underway in Niagara Falls, Ontario this Friday (Dec. 12) and run until Dec. 22. The 2026 World Juniors will be played in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

Brunicke – who has yet to play for the Blazers this season – is one of nine defenceman invited to training camp this year. He was also invited to selection camp last year but had to withdraw because of a wrist injury.

Brunicke is coming off a conditioning stint with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League where he recorded three assists in five games. He also recorded one goal in nine games with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

He’ll be aiming to crack Canada’s final roster which will feature Blazers Director of Goaltending Development, Dan De Palma, on the coaching staff.

This will be the sixth consecutive year in which the Kamloops Blazers have had some kind of representation on Canada’s World Junior Team.

De Palma was part of the coaching staff at last year’s tournament in Ottawa, where Canada finished fifth. Head Coach and General Manager Shaun Clouston was an assistant coach on the 2024 team that also finished in fifth place.

Logan Stankoven and Caedan Bankier played on the 2023 team that won gold, Stankoven and Dylan Garand won gold in 2022, while Garand and Connor Zary won silver in 2021.

Canada will begin the 2026 World Juniors against Czechia on Boxing Day. They will also face Latvia on Dec. 27, Denmark on Dec. 29, and Finland on Dec. 31 in round-robin action.

Ahead of the tournament, Canada will also play Sweden on Dec. 17 in Kitchener and again on Dec. 20 in London. They will also play Denmark in Mankato, Minnesota on on Dec. 23.
