ONE MAN'S OPINION

COLLINS: There is no disgrace in being cheesy once in a while

IN FACT, I WOULD STAND in front of you all and suggest it gives you perspective. Today, it is my pleasure to offer some thanks to all of our health workers, no matter what their level.

I have been in Royal Inland Hospital for the past two years. It’s been a tough time. I know this isn’t everyone’s story, but from every level, I had phenomenal care.

From the time the paramedics arrived and with the help of the firemen, we made the journey and then from every ward except maternity, teams looked after my care. And that includes a full renal failure.

I am still here, fighting.

When I get to come home occasionally, Home Care is as good as it comes. Care aides have one of the toughest jobs and they are worth their weight in gold. Our medical system is not perfect and the government cannot keep throwing money around on ideas that have no chance of success. I talk to careworkers from the lowest category to the highest.

To all the workers, thank you for caring, it sure has given patients like me a new rock to lean on while we wait for the big guns to arrive.

I’m Doug Collins and that’s One Man’s Opinion.
