Stewart of Kamloops to join sports media world during Paralympics

KAMLOOPS — Two-time Paralympic gold medallist Greg Stewart is branching into sports media.

The 7-foot-2 shot putter has been named a CBC Sports digital co-host and analyst for the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in March in Italy.

Stewart will work from his home in Kamloops and expects to interview athletes who are at the Games for a series of episodes on CBC Gem.

“I hope to bring some mindfulness to it, maybe ask some of these questions that aren’t spoken about,” said Stewart, who will work with co-host Allison Lang, a sitting volleyball Paralympic bronze medallist. “I hope to help expose a little bit more of that, so people can get an idea of what actually goes down at these Games and, at the same time, cheer on our Canadian athletes.”

Stewart is no stranger to the public eye, often found posting on social media and speaking at schools and corporate events, spreading his message of mindfulness and vulnerability.

The reigning world champion is not retiring from shot put, but he is interested in exploring career options off the field.

“I hope this helps build my speaking career,” Stewart said. “I’ve spoken to more than 10,000 people this year and if I can double that in years to come, that would be awesome. But cheering our Canadian athletes is why we’re doing this, to help support this Paralympic movement and showcase the talent Canada has.”

The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games are scheduled to run from March 6 to March 15 in northeastern Italy.
