Northbound lanes of Coquihalla Highway north of Merritt closed due to vehicle recovery; slippery conditions persist

UPDATE (7:00 a.m.): The northbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway north of Merritt has reopened to traffic although DriveBC is telling drivers to expect delays.

EARLIER: MERRITT, B.C. — The northbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway are closed north of the City of Merritt Tuesday (Dec. 2) morning.

DriveBC says vehicle recovery work is underway between Exits 286 and 290. The closure was initially reported at around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday. At the time, it involved traffic in both directions.

Another update is due at 7:00 a.m.

DriveBC is warning drivers of compact snow and slippery conditions on Highway 5 from Merritt to the Lac Le Jeune area, along with slushy, slippery conditions on major highways in and around Kamloops.
