UPDATE: Water service restored to majority of Vavenby-area users after earlier break

VAVENBY, B.C. — (UPDATE 4:20 p.m.): The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) says it has restored water to all but one property that is serviced by the Vavenby Community Water System.

In an update just after 4:00 p.m. Monday (Dec. 1), the TNRD siad it has located and isolated the water leak that impacted the approximately 114 users in the Vavenby area.

“Water service is restored to all properties except one property which is receiving aid in the interim,” the TNRD said, noting other users can resume normal water usage.

“The TNRD wishes to thank the impacted residents for their water conservation and cooperation during the outage.”

At this time, it’s not clear what caused the water main break or how significant it is.

“Crews will be back on site tomorrow (Dec. 2) to continue repairs and [we] expect work to be completed by end of day,” the TNRD statement added.

A boil water notice for Vavenby, which is not linked to this particular break, remains in place, the TNRD added.
