KAMLOOPS — The search for a missing 57-year-old Kamloops woman has ended in tragedy.

The family of Sheri-Lynn Bissonnette have confirmed that the she was found dead this morning (Dec. 1), though the circumstances surrounding her passing have not been made public at this time.

“As of right now we have no information to give to the public,” Sheri-Lynn’s son, Trevor Purpur said in a post on Facebook. “We ask that everyone please respect the privacy of the family as we grieve together during this difficult time.”

Bissonnette was last seen leaving her house in Aberdeen around 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday (Nov. 26). She was reportedly headed to her son’s – Trevor’s brother – house in Batchelor Heights, but never arrived.

On Friday, RCMP said they had new information to indicate that Sheri-Lynn may have been in the Surrey-area, but they did not elaborate further.

Her disappearance led to numerous searches in the Kamloops-area, including by the family and well-wishers as well as the Search, Rescue, and Detection K9s (SRD K9s) of BC.

Sources to CFJC confirmed the discovery of Bissonnette’s body earlier Monday, but no further details were provided. Police have also not yet released any information.

“We would like to thank everyone who actively searched and helped us during the last few days,” Purpur added. “We have no words to express our gratitude for the support this community has shown.”

An online fundraiser has been set up with the goal of raising $16,000 to support the family with funeral costs, time away from work, and any other unforeseen expenses that may arise.

“Sheri-Lynn’s sudden passing has left her family and loved ones heartbroken and grieving,” GoFundMe organizer Fauve Smith said. “Sheri was a warm and loving mother, wife, daughter, friend, nurse and active community member whose care and kindness touched all that knew her.”

“Any contribution you can donate helps ease the burden on her family as they navigate this devastating time. Thank you for your support, love, and compassion.”
