Bus carrying Gibraltar Mine workers crashes, injuring 9
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Taseko Mines says nine people have been taken to hospital after a transport bus crashed near its Gibraltar Mine northeast of Williams Lake Friday (Nov. 28).
In a statement, Taseko says the bus left the roadway at on Gibraltar Mine Road at about 7:00 a.m., less than one kilometre from the mine gate. The company says the bus remained upright the entire time but came to an abrupt halt.
The bus was transporting employees to the mine site at the time. Taseko says there were a total of 19 people on board.
As the incident happened quite close to the mine itself, the on-site emergency response team was the first to respond, followed by BC Ambulance and RCMP.
