100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — The emergency department in 100 Mile House will be temporarily closed for most of Wednesday (Nov. 26).

Interior Health says emergency services at 100 Mile House District General Hospital will be unavailable from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Patients in need of emergency care are being rerouted to Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake during the 13-hour closure.

In a news release, Interior Health says all other inpatient services will continue at 100 Mile House District General Hospital.

It’s the second temporary closure of the 100 Mile House emergency department in three days and 23rd overall in 2025.

Residents are asked to call 9-1-1 if they need emergency care, or HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 if they aren’t sure if they need to head to the emergency room.

Earlier last week, B.C. paramedics warned that the number of temporary emergency room closures could be on the rise this winter, and that it would add to the already busy workload of paramedics.

The Ambulance Paramedics of British Columbia (CUPE Local 873) urged people to be prepared for these closures, especially in communities that have seen emergency room closures this year.
