UPDATE: One person taken to hospital after ‘serious’ crash on Highway 1 north of Lytton

LYTTON, B.C. — (UPDATE 5:15 p.m.): One person was taken to hospital by ground ambulance in a stable condition after what police called a serious crash between two trucks on the Trans-Canada Highway, north of Lytton.

The highway has been closed in both directions between Lytton and Spences Bridge following the crash, which happened near the new Tank Hill bridge around 8:56 a.m. Monday (Nov. 24) morning.

While its not clear what happened, police said the occupants of the trucks suffered serious injuries. They also noted that the highway will be closed until further notice.

“Our investigation is in its infancy and investigators are trying to determine the cause of incident,” BC RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Brett Urano said in a statement. “We ask the public for patience as we work to help those involved.”
