KAMLOOPS — Friday morning (Nov. 21), the Delta Hotel will be filled with people taking in a breakfast buffet, and bringing formula, diapers and cash for the Kamloops Food Bank at the annual B-100 Basics for Babies fundraiser.

This will be the 20th year of Basics for Babies. Items donated at the breakfast event will stock the shelves of the ‘baby bank’, which is a dedicated section of the local food bank where families in need can pick up diapers, baby food and formula, knitted baby blankets and toques, and other essentials.

“The children who we served 20 years ago from this program with diapers, and with formula and with the essentials, they’re now 20,” exclaims Bernadette Siracky, the Kamloops Food Bank’s executive director. “We really have affected the next generation in a very meaningful way, a very impactful way.”

Breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Delta Hotel at 540 Victoria Street. Online ticket sales have closed but tickets can be purchased at the door for $35. Those wanting to bring a box of diapers or any other baby items to donate can drop them off in the lobby.

“It really is such an important cause and it really is one that people don’t doubt the impact of — is feeding and clothing infants in our community,” reiterates Siracky. “And it really is our responsibility to do that. They are our next leaders. We really need to make sure they have what they need to grow up in a healthy manner.”

CFJC TV will also be airing a special TV and online broadcast of the Midday show, live from the lobby of the Delta Hotel from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
