Blazers defeat Americans 5-4 in back and forth overtime affair
KAMLOOPS — It was fifth times the charm for the Kamloops Blazers on Tuesday (Nov. 18) as they took two points in a back and forth 5-4 overtime win over the Tri-City Americans.
The Blazers and Americans traded a pair of goals in the first period. J.P. Hurlbert finished a cross-ice path from Nathan Behm on a two-on-one for his first goal of the opening frame, then fired home a slapshot from the left circle for his second. He leads the Western Hockey League (WHL) in scoring with 40 points.
After a scoreless second period, the Blazers took the lead again early in the third period. Tommy Lafreniere scored a shorthanded goal with a wrist shot to make it 3-2, but the Americans responded again to tie the game 3-3.
