KAMLOOPS — For the third straight year, the Kamloops Y is hosting its Winter Adventure Lottery and 50/50 draw to raise funds for its programming.

Similar to its annual Dream Home Lottery, the Kamloops Y’s Winter Adventure draw has three prize packages up for grabs, along with an early bird prize and a 50/50 raffle with a jackpot that can go up to $1 million.

The three prizes are a tropical adventure to Peru or Thailand, a cultural escape to Greece or Iceland and a winter getaway to Lac Le Jeune Resort south of Kamloops. The early bird prize is a WestJet voucher for two and $2,500 cash.

The Y Winter Adventure Lottery is selling single tickets for $25 and three-packs for $50. Tickets for the 50/50 are available in three-packs for $25, eight-packs for $50 and 20-packs for $100.

In a news release issued Tuesday (Nov. 18) morning, the Kamloops Y says funds raised from the Winter Adventure Lottery goes toward programming such as affordable access to health and fitness programs, child care, support for children and women fleeing domestic violence, among others.

Speaking to CFJC Today, spokesperson Bryce Herman says another area the funds will be allotted to is the Kamloops Y’s mental health supports.

“We’ve created a complete department that focuses on mental health, youth, seniors, all the way through the spectrum,” Herman says. “Those programs are vitally needed in our area. This lottery will raise over $100,000 if all goes well and it will contribute nicely to those needs.”

Herman notes the Winter Adventure Lottery has sold out in 2023 and 2024.
