KAMLOOPS — Jordan Keller had a three point night but the Kamloops Blazers fell 4-3 to the Everett Silvertips in overtime on Military Appreciation Night at the Sandman Centre.

Wearing limited edition military-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the Royal Canadian Legion’s poppy fund, the Blazers picked up a point Saturday (Nov. 8) night to give them six out of a possible eight points in their last four games.

Ryan Michael put the Blazers on the scoreboard first after he fired a one-timer past Anders Miller on the power play. It was the only goal of the opening period as the Blazers led 1-0.

Period number two belonged to Everett as they scored three unanswered in the span of 3:34 seconds. Rylan Gould evened the score with his first of the season, before a pair from Julius Miettinen made it 3-1 Silvertips.

On the ensuing shift, Ty Bonkowski fired a wrist shot from the point to cut the deficit to one. Keller then found twine with the only goal of the third period as he too fired a one-timer past Miller to make it 3-3 with a little over five minutes left to play.

It didn’t take long for the Silvertips to come away with the extra point as they capitalized on a turnover 90 seconds into the period, as Matias Vanhanen scored the winner.

Blazers goaltender Logan Edmonstone made 34 saves on 38 shots in a losing effort, while Miller picked up the win with a 29 save effort. The Blazers fired 32 shots on his net.

The Blazers drop to 8-7-2-2, as they’re in fifth place in the Western Conference with 20 points from 19 games. Everett at 14-1-2 leads the Conference with 30 points from 17 games.

Next up for the Blazers is a meeting with the Eastern Conference-leading Edmonton Oil Kings. It’s a Remembrance Day matinee this Tuesday (Nov. 11), with puck drop scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Following Tuesday’s game, fans will be able to skate with the Blazers at Sandman Centre.
