EDMONTON — A great start to the weekend for the TRU basketball teams in Edmonton, as they both ended up in the win column.

The TRU men picked up their fourth win of the season in a row as they knocked off the MacEwan Griffins 69-47 in Edmonton Friday (Nov. 7) night. TRU is the only unbeaten team left standing in Canada West this season.

Dami Farinloye paced the WolfPack attack with 17 points and five steals. Steve Stinson, Jayden Stephens, Jayden Green and Westsyde grad Cason Scott all had nine points each.

This is the first time since 2015-16 that the WolfPack have started a season 4-0. The 47 points they allowed to the Griffins is also the fewest they have ever conceded in a Canada West game.

In women’s action, the WolfPack women also took down the Griffins 60-53 to record their first win of the Canada West season.

Kylee Koppes tallied a team-high 17 points for the WolfPack while Morgan Eichenberger came away with a double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds). Olena Vasylenko added 11 points and eight rebounds while Hailey Merrigan scored nine points.

The 1-3 WolfPack women have already matched their win total from last season, and they’ll look to double that this evening when they face the Griffins at 2:00 p.m. PT.

The WolfPack men also rematch against the Griffins at 4:00 p.m. PT.
