Snowfall warning issued on Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt

Nov 6, 2025 | 1:23 PM

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Hope to Merritt section of the Coquihalla Highway, warning of as much as 20 cm of snow by Friday (Nov. 7) morning.

The weather agency says moderate to heavy snow is also expected on Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via the Allison Pass starting Thursday (Nov. 6) night into Friday morning.

“A frontal system crossing Southern BC will bring snow to the Coquihalla Highway and Allison Pass tonight,” Environment Canada said. “Precipitation is expected to change from rain to snow this evening.”

“Snowfall accumulations are expected to range from 10 cm to 20 cm overnight. Snowfall will ease Friday morning.”

Environment Canada says the rain and snow will lead to reduced visibility and possible hazardous driving conditions as they note weather in the mountains can change suddenly.
