RCMP warn public after Halloween candy containing sewing needle collected in North Shore neighbourhood
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP detachment is the latest BC police department to warn its residents about dangerous items in Halloween candy.
In a news release issued Tuesday (Nov. 4), the detachment says a member of the public came forward Monday with the report of a candy that had been tampered with. A sewing needle was embedded in a snack-sized KitKat bar.
The bar was collected in the North Shore neighbourhood that encompasses Chestnut Avenue, Oak Street and Walnut Avenue.
“We are urging those that have candy collected from Halloween night, to check and re-check the candy,” said detachment spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier. “Given how the sewing needle is in the chocolate the packaging may appear to be sealed.”
