KAMLOOPS — A Tartan Army will soon sweep in on the River City.

Twenty-four ladies from Scotland will be at the Kamloops Curling Club next Saturday (Nov. 8) for a stop on the 2025 Scottish Friendship Tour.

Admission is free for those wishing to watch the Scots toil against local curlers, with a game to follow the opening ceremony at 3:15 p.m.

Dinner and entertainment will follow the contest in Kamloops. Tickets for the meal are $30 and they can be bought at the curling club office. Phone Marilyn Brooks at 778-220-0499 for more information.

The touring ladies will leave for Salmon Arm on Nov. 9 and they will make stops in 18 communities before returning home to Scotland on Nov. 22.

The Canada-Scotland Women’s Curling Friendship tour is celebrating 70 years of tradition. Two teams each from Canada and the U.S. visited Scotland on the inaugural circuit in 1955. Visits are exchanged every five years.

When the Royal Caledonian Curling Club of Scotland hosts the event, 24 Canadian women visit Scotland for three weeks.

The Scottish women rotate between regions of Canada when they visit every five years. The last time the tour visited B.C. was in 1995.
