Tourism Kamloops unveils trio of potential iconic structures to boost visitor numbers
KAMLOOPS — Tourism Kamloops has identified what it says are three investment-ready concepts for its iconic structure campaign, and its now looking for developers, operators, and capital partners to come forward.
It notes the three concepts – an Iconic Tower and Adventure Park, a Nordic Spa, and a Glass-Bottom Skywalk – were identified and validated through third-party feasibility studies. Now the focus turns to finding partners to co-create “landmark infrastructure with long-term economic and cultural value.”
“This is about building more than attractions,” said Nic Zdunich, Tourism Kamloops’ Destination Development Manager. “These are long-term economic drivers, anchors that will turn Kamloops from a stopover into a must-stop. Once we started asking the right questions – What should we build? What do visitors want? – the answers came fast. We’re ready now to deliver something iconic.”
The new investor campaign is aimed at accelerating one or more of these projects in a bid to grow the area’s visitor count. According to Tourism Kamloops, while the Kamloops area gets nearly two million annual visitors – who generate over $316 million in direct visitor spending – there is still untapped potential.
