CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Village of Cache Creek has enacted strict water restrictions as crews respond to a leak in the water distribution system.

In a Voyent Alert! message issued Thursday (Oct. 23) afternoon, the village announced the implementation of a Stage 4 water advisory effective immediately.

“Due to a leak in a pressure reducing valve, [we] must shut down the main pump house to perform emergency repairs. This shutdown means that our reservoirs cannot currently be filled, and water supplies are extremely limited,” the alert said.

“All residents and businesses must immediately stop all non-essential water use.”

Under Stage 4 water advisory, there is no outdoor watering of any kind permitted as well as no vehicle washing, no filling of pools or tanks, and no non-essential indoor water use like laundry and dishwashing.

“Water use must be limited to emergency needs only like drinking, cooking, personal hygiene, and fire protection,” the alert added.

At this time, its not clear how long these water restrictions in Cache Creek will remain in place for.

“Public Works crews are responding and will restore normal service as soon as possible,” the village added. “At this time we do not have an estimated time of restoration, but we will provide an update as soon as we can.”

“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this emergency.”
