Filmed in Kamloops and Sun Peaks, trailer for Netflix holiday romance ‘My Secret Santa’ released

KAMLOOPS — The trailer for a new Christmas movie shot in the Kamloops-area earlier this year has been released.

Friday (Oct. 17), Netflix Studios released its first trailer for My Secret Santa, starring Alexandra Breckinridge of The Walking Dead and This is Us fame and Ryan Eggold who is known for his roles on 90210, The Blacklist and New Amsterdam.

Filmed in Kamloops and Sun Peaks, the plot of the holiday romance revolves around a single mother — Breckinridge — who disguises herself as an elderly man to get a job playing Santa Claus at a ski resort when she falls for the resort’s new manager, played by Eggold.

“Downtown Kamloops is getting movie star treatment on Netflix this December in My Secret Santa,” a post from Downtown Kamloops said. “Production took place this past February within the 200-block of Victoria Street and surrounding areas.”

“Last winter season, we were thrilled to host the cast and crew of My Secret Santa,” added a post by Sun Peaks Resort, which said it was the resort’s first Netflix film. “Sun Peaks proved the perfect location for this festive romantic comedy.”

“We look mighty fine on film, if we do say so ourselves. With set locations across the village, on the mountain, and at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, you’ll see plenty of Sun Peaks in the trailer that just dropped.”

My Secret Santa is scheduled to be released on Netflix on Dec. 3.
