KAMLOOPS — People looking to stock up on books, vinyl records, and CD’s still have two more days to browse the bins at Barb’s Used Book and Music Sale.

The bi-annual fundraising push for the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (KSO) aims to raise around $30,000, by selling gently used books donated to them by people in the community.

“Actually, I was just helping a lady and she was singing on her way out because she found a book about Knutsford and was just ecstatic that she could find that book here,” Kamloops Symphony executive director, Christopher Young, said.

“So we’re really glad to be able to kind of showcase everything. Whether it’s romance, something for your book club, or yeah just that cozy winter read.”

The event is named for the late Barb Corbishley, a longtime board member for the KSO, and the sale itself has been happening for nearly 30 years. To date, it has helped raise more than a million dollars for KSO productions as well as education programs.

“One of the things that we’re doing to kind of end this sale, when you spend $30 you actually get entered in to win two tickets to ‘Still Rock and Roll To Me’, the music of Billy Joel, and Elton John, on October 31,” added Young.

Barb’s Used Book and Music Sale is being held in the Pavillion Theatre at 1025 Lorne Street. Friday’s (Oct. 17) hours are from noon to 5 p.m., and the final day for the sale is Saturday, October 18 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
