SASKATOON, SK — Evan Gardner stopped all 32 shots he faced to lift the Saskatoon Blades to a 3-0 win over the Kamloops Blazers Saturday (Oct. 11) night in the Western Hockey League.

It was the shorthanded Blazers’ fourth defeat in a row and their second defeat in as many games during their six-game East Division road trip.

The Blades led 3-0 after the first period as Jordan Martin, Zach Olsen and David Lewandowski beat Logan Edmonstone in the Blazers net.

Those were the only goals in the game as the second and third period were scoreless affairs.

Edmonstone made 24 saves on 27 shots in a losing effort, while Gardener, a Fort St. John native, picked up the win Saturday night at the SaskTel Centre.

This was the second game back in Saskatoon for former Blade Jordan Keller, who was dealt to the Blazers in the Fraser Minten trade in 2023.

The Blazers are off on Sunday, but they’ll play the Regina Pats on Thanksgiving Monday (Oct. 13). Puck drop from the Brandt Centre is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Blazers will also play games in Moose Jaw on Wednesday (Oct. 15), Brandon on Thursday (Oct. 16) and Swift Current on Saturday (Oct. 18) to close out a stretch of six games in nine nights.

Their next home game at Sandman Centre is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
