KAMLOOPS — The Barenaked Ladies will be on board the CPKC Holiday Train when it makes its annual stop in the City of Kamloops this December.

The holiday train is set to roll into the Sandman Centre back parking lot on Thursday, Dec. 18., around 5:00 p.m. and its expected to depart about 30 minutes later.

“I can’t imagine a better way to visit some of Canada’s beautiful mountain towns than by riding the CPKC Holiday Train,” Barenaked Ladies co-founder Ed Robertson said. “It’s going to be a great time for a great cause!”

Amid all of the lights and the spectacle, the CPKC Holiday Train shows are fundraisers for food banks. The Kamloops Food Bank is the beneficiary in the area.

“It’s just so beautiful. You have kids on their parents shoulders. It is just so, so much fun,” Kamloops Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky said last year. “We’ll have some entertainment and build community spirit.”

The CPKC Holiday Train will also make stops in Chase at 2:45 p.m., Savona at 7:05 p.m., and Ashcroft at 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 18. It will be in Revelstoke and the Salmon Arm-area on Dec. 17 and in Lytton on Dec. 19 as it works its way towards Vancouver.

“Every year, our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train across our network, this year reaching even more communities for the first time,” Keith Creel, the CPKC President and CEO, said in a statement.

“It’s incredible to see communities come together every year to celebrate the holidays while supporting local food banks.”
