CFJC-TV anchor O’Donovan announces retirement

KAMLOOPS — It’s the end of an era for CFJC-TV.

Longtime news anchor Bill O’Donovan has announced he will retire at the end of the year. His last newscast is planned for January 2, 2026.

A proud native of 150 Mile House, O’Donovan began his first stint with CFJC in 1979, joining Earl Seitz in the station’s sports department.

He and wife Audry moved to CTV Regina in 1986, spending 15 years in the Saskatchewan capital.

O’Donovan returned to Kamloops and CFJC in 2001, taking over as the station’s lead anchor for the Midday and Evening News.

His career in broadcasting has garnered a long list of awards and honours, including RTDNA Canada’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.

O’Donovan plans to stay in Kamloops and spend more time with his seven grandchildren. He also plans to continue on as public address announcer for Kamloops Blazers home games.
