KAMLOOPS — Kamloops’ golden Paralympian checked off another major championship on his bucket list.

During the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi Friday (Oct. 3), Greg Stewart won his first gold medal in men’s F46 shotput.

The 7-foot-2 Kamloops Track and Field Club athlete secured gold with a season-best throw of 16.68 metres on his third attempt. Stewart beat out Joshua Cinnamo of the United States, who took silver with a throw of 16.08 metres on his third attempt.

Stewart’s winning throw at the World Para Athletics was longer than his gold medal-winning throw of 16.38 metres at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games but just shy of his personal best 16.75-metre throw when he won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

Previously, Stewart won a pair of silver medals at the World Para Athletics, first in Dubai in 2019 with a throw of 16.30 metres then again in Kobe, Japan in 2024 with a throw of 16.14 metres.

Stewart, who was born without the lower part of his left arm, briefly retired from competition in 2022 before returning in 2024.
