KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (11:45 a.m.): RCMP say they have not been able to track down a person supposedly hit by a train in downtown Kamloops Wednesday morning (Oct. 1).

Mission Flats Road has since reopened.

RCMP say first responders were called to the area of Second Avenue and Lansdowne Street at about 8:20 a.m. Trains were stopped as police investigated but no one was been located.

“The road reopened, but the investigation is still ongoing,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.  “Police Dog Services and a drone were used to locate the person struck; however, no one was located during an extensive search along the tracks.”

Anyone who was in the area about about 8:00 a.m. or who may have helpful video footage is asked to call RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2025-32732.

EARLIER: Mission Flats Road is closed Wednesday (Oct. 1) morning due to a large police presence visible along the rail tracks.

In a brief news release, Kamloops RCMP say officers are responding as part of an ongoing investigation with Canadian Pacific Kansas City Police where it was reported that a pedestrian was struck by a train.

Further details related to the presence are not available as of publication, but residents are asked to avoid the area until officers and first responders have cleared.
