Centennials best Storm in Coquihalla Clash
KAMLOOPS — The first Coquihalla Clash of the season went the way of the Merritt Centennials on Saturday night defeating the Kamloops Storm 6-4 at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
The Storm bulged the twine first, less than 90 seconds in the contest, as Noah Paulsen made Brayden Thurlow pay for an early tripping penalty with the powerplay marker. Paulsen would add another late in the period on yet another powerplay, but in-between the Cents rattled off three in a row to enter the dressing room up 3-2.
The teams would trade goals in the middle-stanza, making it 4-3 after two.
Teagan Mullin would tie the contest at 4-4 early into the final period, but two unanswered by Merritt before the midway point of the frame was enough as they went on to win 6-4. Merritt getting goals from six different skaters in the victory.
