BARRIERE, B.C. — The BC Wildfire Service is set to remove the campfire ban across the Kamloops Fire Centre on Monday, Sept. 29, but the District of Barriere will not follow suit just yet.

“The District of Barriere would like to follow suit, however, the complete fire ban must remain in effect while the district is on Stage 3 Water Restrictions out of an abundance of caution to protect the water system during the necessary repair of the municipality’s wells,” reads the release from the District.

The well repairs are expected to be completed by the evening of Friday, October 3, however this date is not a guarantee.

For residents in the Kamloops Fire Centre, the ban will be rescinded on Monday. However, campfires remains prohibited at all-time within city limits.
