Strong winds expected for the Cariboo

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A special weather statement is in place for the Cariboo and 100 Mile regions as strong winds are expected.

Environment Canada says strong winds gusts are expected to start Friday (Sept. 26) afternoon and last into the night.

The weather agency warns that strong wind gusts can break tree limbs and cause power outages. Additionally, drivers are warned that highways in the area are expected to be subject to strong cross winds.

The weather statement is due to a vigorous frontal system associated with a strong Pacific low that will track across the province today. Environment Canada expects winds to gradually ease overnight.
