Blazers officially sign F Lanti, D Markel

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers have signed a pair of players who have impressed in brief Western Hockey League auditions.

Tuesday (Sept. 23), the team announced the signing of 2008-born forward Logan Lanti and 2007-born defenceman Evan Markel to WHL Scholarship and Development deals.

Lanti, from High Level, Alberta, spent last season with U17 Prep Rink Hockey Academy in Kelowna, leading the team with 62 points in 36 games.

Markel, from Richmond, played with Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford last season, tallying 15 points in 35 games for the U18 Prep team.

Both players were invited to training camp with the Blazers and made their WHL debuts last Saturday in the team’s 6-4 victory over Spokane to open the season.
