Kamloops pipeline worker turned ‘American Idol’ star takes home two CCMA awards
KELOWNA — A former pipeline worker in Kamloops who broke out on the singing competition TV show “American Idol” took home two awards at the 2025 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) awards.
During the ceremony in Kelowna Saturday (Sept. 13), Cameron Whitcomb won the Fans’ Choice Award as well as the award from Breakthrough Artist or Group of the year. He was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year as well as Single of the Year, and Songwriter(s) of the Year for his song Quitter.
“Thank you for keeping me sober. Thank you for saving my life,” the Nanaimo local said in his acceptance speech. “I love you sincerely, from the bottom of my heart.”
