KAMLOOPS — The annual Santa Claus Parade will take over the streets of downtown Kamloops in late November, but organizers will begin taking applications from prospective entrants later today (Sept. 9)

The 45th edition of the annual holiday parade will return to Victoria Street on Nov. 23, and organizers say it’ll fill the air with live musical and dance performances, floats and a special visit from Santa Claus himself.

“This year’s theme, ‘Home for the Holidays,’ celebrates the warmth, nostalgia and traditions that make the holiday season so special,” Alexandra Eaket, the marketing and events coordinator with Downtown Kamloops said.

“It’s about what ‘home’ means to each of us — whether that’s gathering with loved ones, sharing cultural traditions, or supporting the local businesses that bring our community to life.”

People and businesses interested in marching in this year’s parade can start applying for their spot on a first come, first served basis. There will be 50 spots available and applications can be made until Oct. 15, unless the event reaches capacity before that.

“Floats and participants are encouraged to bring this theme to life with creativity, highlighting the joy of togetherness, Canadian pride and the magic of the holidays from childhood to today,” Eaket added.

Parade festivities will begin at 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 23, while the parade itself will get underway around 4:00 p.m. The parade will also be streamed live on the Downtown Kamloops’ Facebook Page and YouTube channel.

“This year, Downtown Kamloops is thrilled to align the parade with the Kamloops Christmas Market, the Festival of Trees at the Delta Hotel and other festive events, creating a vibrant holiday atmosphere for residents and visitors throughout the weekend,” Eaket said

“The Santa Claus Parade has become a cornerstone of the season, attracting thousands of spectators each year and creating cherished memories for generations.”
