KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers have made a number of roster moves that impact their group of 19-year-old forwards.

The team has announced the signing of Josh Evaschesen, who played for the Trail Smoke Eaters in the Junior A B.C. Hockey League last season. He was listed by the Blazers in May and he impressed at training camp over the Labour Day long weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward from Medicine Hat, Alta. had five goals and 15 points in 34 games with the Smoke Eaters last season.

The Blazers have also released three 2006-born forwards – Max Sullivan, Escalus Burlock and Nishaan Parmar – from camp.

Sullivan had seven goals and 23 points in 61 games with the Blazers last season, while Burlock and Parmar were free-agent invites to training camp this season.

Four 19-year-old forwards remain on the roster – Evaschesen, Josh Kelly, Conner Radke and Cooper Moore – with two pre-season games remaining.

“That age group hasn’t gained a lot of traction over the last couple of years,” Blazers’ head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston said. “We’ve got players like Evaschesen and Moore who, at this stage, have beat those guys out.”

In other roster moves Monday (Sept. 8), the Blazers have returned three 15-year-old players – forwards Teagen Bouchard and Brady Ondrus and defenceman Mateo Ferreira – to their respective clubs.

The Blazers will play the Prince George Cougars at Sandman Centre this Friday’s (Sept. 12) and at the West Fraser Centre in Quesnel on Saturday.

They will then open the 2025-26 WHL regular season at home against the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday, Sept. 20. More information about the regular season schedule is here.
