KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has announced nearly two months of reduced operating hours at the Westsyde Pool and Fitness Centre starting this Monday (Sept. 8).

In a brief social media post, it said the facility at 859 Bebek Road will be closed on weekday mornings because of staffing shortages. It will be open between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on weekdays until Nov. 1, which is when the closure will be re-evaluated.

According to the city, there will no changes to weekend hours at the Westysde Pool and Fitness Centre. The gym will be open 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, while the pool will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” the city said in its Facebook post.

The Canada Games Pool at the Tournament Capital will reopen on Sept. 8 for regular programming after its annual maintenance shutdown. The Brock outdoor pool has closed for the season and its set to reopen in late spring 2026.

“Pool users are encouraged to review the pool schedules for a detailed schedule of swim times for the current period or closure notices, as schedules and programming changes do occur without notice,” a notice on the city website added.

“We strongly recommend you phone before arriving to ensure that the pool and/or fitness centre will be open as unforeseen staffing challenges occur without notice.”

CFJC has reached out to the City of Kamloops and will update this story if more information is known.
