Southeast District ERT back at Brocklehurst house in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — RCMP in Kamloops are once again asking people to avoid the 2300-block of Fleetwood Avenue because of an ongoing police operation this morning (Sept. 5).

In a brief statement, RCMP Staff Sgt. Darren Durnin said members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) were deployed to a house on that block in Brocklehurst “to execute a high‑risk search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.”

“While details related to the operation are not available for release at this time, the public is asked to avoid the area until officers have cleared the scene,” Durnin said. “As a precaution schools in the vicinity have been notified.”

While police did not release an address Friday, they were called to 2317 Fleetwood Ave. on Thursday (Aug. 28) last week as part of an ongoing firearms investigation.

Police did not release details about last week’s events, but a CFJC reporter on scene counted three people who were briefly taken into custody but later released.

RCMP say more information will be released as it becomes available.

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment thanks the community for its patience and understanding,” Durnin added.
