City of Kamloops to Overlanders Bridge commuters: the ride will get better
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is attempting to reassure residents after concerns were raised about the quality of rehabilitation work being done on the Overlanders Bridge.
There have been instances when people have taken to social media to report some rough spots in the northbound lanes of the bridge, but Civic Operations Director Jen Fretz said Thursday (Sept. 4) that things will get smoother in due course.
Speaking at a Governance and Service Excellence Committee meeting, Fretz said when the work is completed, the bridge will have four expansion joints, down from the previous nine.
“The five joints in the middle have been removed and you don’t feel them because its been paved over,” Fretz said. “And the two joints on the north side and the two on the very south side are where people are feeling things are rough.”
