Kamloops and area to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next two days: Environment Canada
KAMLOOPS — A special air quality statement is in effect for most of the Southern Interior.
Environment Canada says smoke from wildfires is expected to move into the North and South Thompson, Nicola, Okanagan and Shuswap regions overnight Wednesday (Sept. 3).
The weather agency says communities in those regions are likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next 24-to-48 hours. A similar air quality statement was issued for the 100 Mile and Cariboo regions on Tuesday.
Environment Canada notes smoke conditions can vary hour-by-hour, and residents are asked to limit their time outdoors or reschedule activities and events as smoke levels increase. Residents who must spend time outdoors are encouraged to use a proper respirator mask such as an N95.
