Hunt for new SD73 superintendent expected to hit high gear in October

KAMLOOPS — Following the departure of Rhonda Nixon, SD73 is now in the midst of a hiring process for the next superintendent of schools.

Mike McKay has been brought in to fill the vacancy, while helping lead the search for his full-time replacement. With the school year now underway, the plan is to quickly narrow down a short list of candidates.

“This month, we are sketching out the process and the wording for the expression of interest that will go out for superintendent and subsequently secretary-treasurer, and we hope that we can take some action in terms of short listing and interviewing in the month of October,” outlined McKay.

The goal is to have the new superintendent in place for the beginning of the new calendar year, however depending on if it’s an external or internal hire, that timeline may be adjusted.
