Overlanders Bridge switchover to happen Friday

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has announced in a social media post that the Overlanders Bridge project is moving into its next phase later this week.

“While it looks like it’s done and we are ready to switch over, there is a little bit more work to do,” Matt Kachel, the city’s Infrastructure Delivery Divisional Manager, said on Aug 22. “We need to do some cut outs and put some components in that need to cure a little bit, so we are looking towards the end of next week when we are going to do our switchover.”

On Friday (Aug 29), crews will begin construction work on the southbound side of the bridge.

Last week, Kachel told CFJC News the Overlanders project is advancing on-time, and that its scheduled to be completed in early October.
