SICAMOUS, B.C. — BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) personnel are keeping an eye on a pair of small fires that popped up near Shuswap Lake Monday (Aug. 25).
The BCWS website shows a new fire start near Cinnemousun Narrows Provincial Park, directly north of Sicamous. The fire was no larger than spot size as of Monday evening and is believed to have been sparked by lightning.
The second fire was discovered near McNomee Creek north of Seymour Arm. Reported as spot size Monday night, that blaze is also believed to have been caused by lightning.
With the Kamloops area in the midst of a heat warning, fire danger ratings have crept from moderate to high in most of the Kamloops Fire Centre, with some pockets of extreme danger.
