LEE CREEK, B.C. — Police say a 32-year-old man from Chase was “safely apprehended” on a floating dock on Shuswap Lake after he tried to harm members of his own family Sunday (Aug. 24) afternoon.

In a news release, the RCMP says the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to a house on Squilax-Anglemont Road. While police did not say where the house was located, witnesses took to social media to say the incident was in the area of Lee Creek and Scotch Creek.

According to the RCMP, the man was threatening to use a weapon against his own family, which prompted the police response.

“Upon police arriving, the man had swum from the home to a swimming platform in the middle of the lake,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said. “Officers had to travel by boat to reach him. The man was safely apprehended.”
