Alleged firebug nabbed in downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — RCMP collared a suspected firebug in downtown Kamloops Monday morning (Aug. 25).
City of Kamloops Community Service Officers (CSOs) call RCMP and Kamloops Fire Rescue at about 4:15 a.m. Monday, reporting a man who had been seen lighting fires in the area of Fourth Avenue and St. Paul Street.
When police arrived and tracked a suspect down, he initially fled before officers took him into custody.
Investigators are still looking into the report and ask anyone with relevant video footage to call the non-emergency line at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2025-27903.
