KAMLOOPS — RCMP say two motorcyclists were killed in two separate single-vehicle crashes in the Kamloops area Saturday (Aug. 24) evening.

Police told CFJC that an 18-year-old man was killed in a crash in the 8500-block of Barnhartvale Road around 5:40 p.m. last night. While its not clear what caused the crash, police say the rider sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient,” a Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) spokesperson said in a statement to CFJC. “No patients were transported to hospital.”

“Frontline officers and the Kamloops RCMP Traffic Unit have been involved in the investigation which is still ongoing,” added Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said in a statement Monday (Aug. 25).

“Three ambulances [also] responded to the scene and paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient,” the statement from PHSA said. “No patients were transported to hospital.”

“The investigation is ongoing by the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment,” Napier added. “The motorcycle was reported to be travelling northbound at the time of the crash.”

According to DriveBC, one southbound lane on the Coquihalla was reopened just before midnight.
