Jonathan Rinaldi of Kamloops signs with new Portuguese team
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops soccer player Jonathan Rinaldi has signed a professional contract with Grupo Desportivo São Roque in Portugal.
The former TRU WolfPack and Kamloops United midfielder will once again play in the AF Aveiro Sabseg Championship — the fifth-division of the Portuguese football league system — as São Roque was promoted at the end of last season.
Rinaldi, 23, spent last season with Atlética de Avanca and he finished with three assists in 16 league games. Avanca managed to avoid relegation as they placed 15th among 18 teams with a record of 10-5-19.
A graduate of Sa-Hali Secondary, Rinaldi is set to face his former club in league competition on Nov. 30 this year and against on April 19 next spring.
